The challenge was to build a more efficient, scalable and commercially accountable content operation capable of supporting the demands of a fast-moving retail business. I focused on streamlining production workflows, optimising resources and introducing new technologies to improve how content was planned, produced and delivered.
My remit also extended to improving the customer experience across key e-commerce platforms. For Home Centre, I led a comprehensive review of the website's information architecture and customer journey, simplifying the conversion funnel and restructuring navigation around consumer shopping behaviour. By aligning product discovery with how people naturally explore, furnish and shop for their homes, we created a more intuitive path from browsing to purchase, contributing to a substantial improvement in website performance.
For Babyshop, I applied a similar customer-centric approach, restructuring the platform around age-based segmentation. This made product discovery more relevant to parents shopping for different stages of their children's development, creating clearer navigation pathways and a more personalised shopping experience.
Alongside these digital improvements, I challenged established production processes, strengthened operational discipline and introduced more effective ways of working. These changes improved productivity, significantly reduced overtime and created a more sustainable production environment.
Through resource optimisation, tighter budget management and improvements to the operating model, I also delivered substantial realised savings while maintaining the function's ability to meet evolving business requirements.
The transformation established a more productive, commercially focused content operation while strengthening the customer experience across major retail platforms. It demonstrated how operational leadership, consumer insight and e-commerce strategy could work together to improve business performance at scale.
